Giampiero Romanò
Giampiero Romanó, born in '73, is a Milanese artist. He did not train in design courses or by attending an Academy of Arts, but among the nails, hammers and paints of his own laboratory, in the beating heart of the Porta Venezia district, dedicating himself for more than twenty years to research and restoration of vintage-design pieces.
Since his early years he has traveled a lot in search of vintage pieces from the great Italian names in design, gaining knowledge in the field, tools in hand; his becomes an irresistible passion.
A few years later he began collaborating with the Toiletpaper Magazine by Maurizio Cattelan and Pier Paolo Ferrari and his creativity, combined with a now great experience, took shape in a collection of over 100 pieces created and exhibited all over the world.
Ironic, visionary and gifted with great manual skill, developed over years of artisanal work, Giampiero begins to give voice to his ideas and inspirations, creating an alternative universe made of mirrors.
These are in fact the protagonists of his creations: mirrors. Some he cuts, others he sews, dismantles, lights them, riddles them.
One could try to interpret Giampiero Romanó's art pieces as his search for identity; maybe so, but Giampiero doesn't give himself time to stop and reflect: he has to create.
His need is only to not hold back what he feels and to give shape to everything he imagines.
